Summer Programs

Our Summer Programs are a great opportunity to do something different during your time off. These short term projects have been developed to ensure that a group of volunteers can have a positive and lasting impact in a short period of time, while also providing the type of support that is appropriate for youth aged 16 to 19.

At the airport volunteers will be met by one of BaseCamp's country staff. We will transfer back to the BaseCamp Center and complete a thorough safety briefing. This briefing covers everything from safely changing money to using the bathroom and is the first of several orientation and training sessions. The following two days are spent in sessions that cover everything from political history, current events, family life, identifying registered taxis, safely navigating local transportation, managing at the market and effective bargaining. These sessions help to ease much of the tension of fitting into a new country.

On Monday we begin working on our placement. Days on placement generally run from nine to five. Your Placement Coordinator will be on-site to make sure that things run smoothly and to help where needed. After work, we will transfer back either to our centre or to the volunteer camp depending on the project location.

The second weekend in country will include an accompanied adventure excursion. Meals and optional activities are not included during the weekend.
